Chromtech Skills Development Programme Empowers Future Artisans

Investing in people is one of the most meaningful ways to build sustainable communities and a stronger industrial sector. Through its Skills Development Programme, Chromtech Holdings is helping young South Africans gain the technical training, confidence, and support needed to pursue skilled careers.

Two of the programme’s current learners, Kgomotso Mdupe and Sandile Ndamase, demonstrate how access to education and mentorship can transform opportunity into real progress.

Building a Future as an Electrician

Originally from an area outside Brits, Kgomotso Mdupe is currently training to become an electrician through a full Chromtech bursary. The scholarship covers her tuition, accommodation, transport and provides a monthly stipend, allowing her to focus fully on her studies and training.

For Kgomotso, the experience has been about far more than learning technical skills. She describes the programme as a journey of personal growth. Through her studies she has built confidence, formed strong friendships, and developed a deeper sense of independence and self-worth.

As she progresses in her training, she hopes to use her skills to build a stable career while inspiring other young women to consider technical trades.

Learning the Trade of a Fitter

For Sandile Ndamase, the appeal of engineering has always been the hands-on work. Now in his first year of training as a fitter, Sandile is completing his practical learning at Limberg Mining Company, working alongside experienced artisans and learning the realities of the trade on site.

The exposure to real industrial environments has strengthened his interest in the field. Sandile sees the programme not just as a qualification, but as the first step in a much longer professional journey.

Once he completes his training, he hopes to continue his studies in mechanical engineering and build a career that combines practical skills with advanced technical knowledge.

Creating Pathways Through Skills Development

For both learners, the opportunity provided by Chromtech Holdings represents far more than training for a specific trade. It is a pathway to further education, long-term career opportunities, and the ability to actively shape their own futures.

By investing in young artisans, Chromtech’s Skills Development Programme is helping strengthen the country’s technical workforce while creating meaningful opportunities for individuals who are ready to build, learn and lead.
